Obituary

LaToya Nicole Rideaux was a beacon of light and love who graced this world from June 10, 1984, to July 8, 2024. She was surrounded by friends and family who showered her with love.

Toya, as she was affectionately called, was raised in a close-knit family. She was the youngest, yet strongest, of Willard and Shirley (Guillory) Rideaux’s four children.

Christened at an early age, Toya attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She graduated from Washington-Marion Magnet High School in 2002. She became a certified Medical Assistant after graduating from Unitech Training Academy in 2016. Toya was a “people person” with excellent customer service and supervisory skills, which contributed to her success as a valuable ACE Cash Express employee.

Toya was a single mother raising two beautiful girls. Her unconditional love for them was limitless. She was beyond proud of the young women they are becoming. In word and deed, she showed them that daily.

She enjoyed simple pleasures, such as spending time with family and friends, playing card games, cooking meals, eating crab legs, dancing and of course sharing over a Miller Light.

Though saddened by the unexpected loss of such a dynamic soul, those that knew her are thankful for the paths crossed and time spent. Her presence was a blessing.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Benjamin and Hattie (Batiste) Rideaux and maternal grandparents: John and Cecile (Curette) Guillory.

Left to celebrate and be inspired by her spirited legacy of love, happiness and compassion are: Her daughters: MaKaila and A’Mya Rideaux; Siblings: Gwendolyn Guillory; Willard Troy (Indiana) Rideaux and Tangerla (Rickey) Carter; Life partner: Shawn Ducre; Uncle, Larry (Velma) Guillory; Two Aunts Patsy James and Johnny Rideaux; Godmother, Cynthia Gail Brown; Five nephews; Four nieces; Seven great-nieces; Two great-nephews; and a host of family and friends.
