Ruth Pitre was born on March 25, 1940, to the proud parents of Sylvester and Gertie Jenkins in Lake Charles, LA. Ruth was the oldest of four children: Esther, Ola Mae, and Sylvester Jr.
As a child, she grew up and attended WO Boston High School in Lake Charles, LA. Ruth was very outgoing during her High school years, and was a majorette.
Ruth even entered a beauty pageant.
Later, Ruth married Lewis Dervis, Jr. Through their union, they had 5 children: Pamela, Michael, Felecia, Linda, and Lewis III. They dissolved their marriage.
Ruth married again to Gilton Bertan Pitre. Through their union, they had two children, Gilton and Tawanda. They dissolved their marriage.
Ruth moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she met Anthony Lumas, and they remained companions until death.
Ruth was a member at Warren Methodist in Lake Charles, LA. A member of the Testimonial Church of God in Christ, she served as an usher.
Ruth was preceded in death: Ola Mae Jenkins; Gertie Rankins Jenkins; Sylvester Jenkins;
Esther August; Sylvester Jenkins, Jr.; Da'Neisha Taylor (great-granddaughter); Bryan R. Miguel (grandson); Anthony Lumas (companion); Raymond Bradshaw (son-in-law).

Felecia Yolandas Miguel (Austin James Miguel) of Los Angeles, CA, Linda Renee Dervis Bradshaw of Houston, Tx, Lewis Dervis, III (Anastasia Sinegal-Dervis) of Pearland, Tx; Gilton Bertan Pitre, Jr. of
Los Angeles, CA; Tawanda Ann Pitre of Los Angeles, CA. Bishop Erica R Jenkins, God Daughter of Lake Charles, LA. 16 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; 9 great great grandchildren and 2 on the way and a host of nieces and nephews.
Our Queen, Ruth Pitre Her legacy of love, strength, and grace will live on in all who knew her.
